Tina Nguyen (LA '18)

Biography

Tina Nguyen (she/her) is a Vietnamese-American New Orleans native. She graduated magna cum laude from Tulane University with a B.A. in Gender and Sexuality Studies in 2018. She is currently a medical student at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and aspires to be an obstetrician and gynecologist. Tina is passionate about providing comprehensive and competent reproductive healthcare and understanding and addressing health disparities that might prevent patients from accessing that care. When looking back at her time at Tulane, she credits Newcomb Institute with providing her the most opportunities for growth. She was a Newcomb Scholar and a student worker at the Newcomb house. In addition, she worked with various Newcomb student organizations, serving as president of the Newcomb Senate and producer of Hers, Theirs, Ours. She loved participating in Newcomb traditions such as the Daisy Chain and was selected for Oak Wreath her senior year. For Tina, her Tulane experience was really the Newcombexperience. Outside of school, Tina is an avid foodie. She continues to explore the rich culinary world of New Orleans through its numerous delicious restaurants and loves to cook and bake for her family and friends in her spare time.
